Road

In a dream setting between Lake Geneva and the Chablais Alps, the Thonon-les-Bains Cycling Race aims to be a friendly start-of-season event that everyone can take part in.

Appreciated for their accessibility, the routes of this 4th edition will be no exception to the rule, with a few new ones… starting with the Col des Moises and the Col de Cou, via Les Ruppes, which will be used by the Tour de France in 2022.

The Col de Plaine-Joux, the highlight of the event, will remain on the programme and continue to build on its growing reputation. As in previous years, its direction will be reversed and 2023 will feature some of the most difficult climbs… A surprising new feature in 2022, the Col du Feu, also used en masse by the Etape du Tour, will also be reversed, offering a superb view of Lake Geneva on the descent.

A success of the second edition, the short course is also changing direction and will continue to make the event ever more popular… It will give less hardcore riders access to the event and a chance to set themselves a great sporting challenge! To continue to democratise the event, the organisers will be putting on some brand new events in the race village.

Finally, one thing won’t change on the route: the wide choice of refreshment points. Savoury, sweet and plenty of local specialities such as potato fritters, enough for some to have a good time and for others to regain enough strength to reach the finish.

The Thonon Cycling Race is a round of the Label d’Or Trophy of the French Cycling Federation.

NB: e-bikes (in trekking mode, no classification) are allowed on the Short route.
